Blue skies and seas breaking against white cliffs were the inspiration to David Sheppard's creation for Whitecliff Properties. A commission from Hart Office Interiors to design the reception for their client, who develops land close to the Channel rail link, prompted the idea. A range of different materials subtly reflect the South Coast scenery. Maple with cadmium blue laminate form te elegantly curved desk. Savernake Limestone, Maple and glass were used for the worksurfaces. The wall panelling, made by superimposing white laquered panels onto Maple wall boards, is far more obvious in exploiting the influence of the scenery. The result is a striking and evocative reception area popular with visitors and staff.
